November 3, 2024 Victor Krummenacher and Casey Neill
Victor Krummenacher is a musician and co-founder of the band Camper Van Beethoven. He is also a longstanding member of Monks of Doom and has released 11 solo albums since 1995. Krummenacher is a member of the critically acclaimed band The Third Mind, along with Dave Alvin, David Immerglück of Counting Crows, Michael Jerome (drummer for Slash and Richard Thompson), Jesse Sykes, and Mark Karan.
Since the formation of Camper Van Beethoven in 1983, Krummenacher has remained active for more than 40 years, participating in numerous projects with Cracker, Eyelids (whose album "A Colossal Waste of Light" was produced by R.E.M.'s Peter Buck), Charley Parr, The Minus Five (with Scott McCaughey), M. Ward, Two Heads (with DJ Bonebrake of X, John Moremen and Willie Aron), Camper Van Chadbourne (with Eugene Chadbourne), McCabe & Mrs. Miller with Alison Faith Levy, the improvisational collective Mushroom, Magnet, and Robi Del Mar.
A compilation of archival material, “The Devil Gives Me House and Home,” is set to be released on Krummenacher’s Veritas imprint on September 27, 2024.
Casey Neill is a songwriter from Portland, Oregon performing high energy indie folk, infused with haunting melodies and weather beaten narratives. Neill performs as a solo act as well as with his band, The Norway Rats featuring members of The Decemberists and Eels. He tours throughout the USA, Japan, and Europe at clubs and listening rooms as well as festivals such as Newport Folk Fest, Pickathon, and Bumbershoot. Recently signed to Portland label Fluff & Gravy, his new solo album time zero land is his first acoustic based record in over a decade.
time zero land is a companion piece to last fall’s Casey Neill & the Norway Rats LP Sending Up Flares, and includes two outtakes from those band sessions. Neill engineered these solo songs at his home studio and plays the lion's share of the instruments. It's a dreamy affair with sonic homages to Elliott Smith, Nick Drake, Sade, the acoustic side of Rust Never Sleeps, and the Brit-folk pioneered by Bert Jansch, Richard Thompson, and June Tabor. One of the things people often say about the Norway Rats is how their music defies easy genre categorization and while Sending Up Flares leans into the fruits of that collaboration, time zero land embraces the influences and craft songwriting that has been at the core of Neill's solo work.
